While the sheen of this venue’s accomplished aesthetics will turn Coffee In Common into a magnet for shutterbugs, the food & beverages rise on their own merit, propelled by polished industry talents. Noted chef Nik Michael Imran has crafted a menu that confidently caters to multiple preferences, with the smoked duck soba (RM17), nasi lemak with sambal sotong (RM13) & mushroom pesto lasagna (RM15) hitting pleasurable notes for flavour & freshness, well-executed enough to belong in the repertoire of respectable Japanese, Malaysian & Italian eateries. And with the League Of Captains cafe’s friendly barista-founder Danial Naim currently in charge of the coffee here, you know you’ll receive a commanding flat white (RM11) that’ll fuel you for a few more hours at the laptop – all work & no piccolo lattes make us deranged boys & girls.

In a glance, the cafe isn’t exactly big but seats comfortably 10 to 12 people at the long communal table. If you’re escaping the cold in your office or from your boss, the seats by the window will be sure to keep you warm in the afternoon and lots of natural lights. When ahead with the usual drill and ordered latte over the counter. Unlike the other cafes where the menu is displayed above or on soggy sugar papers, the menu is framed up nicely at the counter (no more looking like giraffes pointing cluelessly on the overhead menu!). Prices are keen at a scan and on display, the cakes are rather tempting.
